There are some authors whose books are just eye openers. They change your perspective of the world. Atlas Shrugged, The Fountainhead and Anthem are just a few such works by Ayn Rand. I don’t say that each and every person reading these books will agree to the author’s philosophies and theory. But she cannot be ignored.
Here, I have listed down a few of Ayn Rand’s quotes from her books. If you have read the books these quotes are from, you will find them a refreshment; if you haven’t you shall understand why I advocate Ayn Rand’s books as a must read.
"My happiness is not the means to any end. It is the end. It is its own goal. It is its own purpose."
"We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force."
"Learn to value yourself, which means: fight for your happiness."
"Happiness is that state of consciousness which proceeds from the achievement of one’s values."
"To say ‘I love you’ one must first be able to say the ‘I.’"
"To achieve, you need thought. You have to know what you are doing and that's real power."
"Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark in the hopeless swamps of the not-quite, the not-yet, and the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists.. it is real.. it is possible.. it's yours."
"I could die for you. But I couldn’t, and wouldn’t, live for you."
"Freedom (n.): To ask nothing. To expect nothing. To depend on nothing."
"A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others."
"If any civilization is to survive, it is the morality of altruism that men have to reject."
"Contradictions do not exist. Whenever you think you are facing a contradiction, check your premises. You will find that one of them is wrong."
"The hardest thing to explain is the glaringly evident which everybody has decided not to see."
"The man who does not value himself, cannot value anything or anyone."
These are just fourteen of my favourite Ayn Rand’s inspirational quotes. Let me know your favourite ones.
